The Summer I Turned Pretty Season 3 Teaser Hurt Team Conrad Girlies—But We’ll Rally

Um, Team Conrad are we doing okay? Also, playing “Daylight” and “Red”? Jenny Han, are you trying to kill me? Team Jeremiah girls are finally having their day in the sun (literally) as Taylor Swift’s “Daylight” plays over the first teaser trailer for The Summer I Turned Pretty’s final season coming this summer. However, just in the nick of time, Conrad shows up at Belly’s door with his beautiful puppy dog eyes. I know as a journalist I need to be non-biased, but fair warning, I’m Team Conrad until the day I die.

Now if you haven’t read the books by Jenny Han or watched season two, spoiler alert! You’ve been warned. Season two ends with Belly and Jeremiah together, and Belly and Conrad on the outs once again. This teaser seems to allude to the storyline sticking to the book storylines pretty heavily. Book three starts out with Jeremiah and Belly happily together, going to college together, Conrad is out of the picture. However, let’s just say everything blows up.

This quick teaser is mostly showing off Belly and Jeremiahs happy relationship, and I will say they’re pretty cute together. But, Belly’s heart clearly still belongs to Conrad. If you were even questioning that, the fact that Taylor Swift’s “Red” starts to play the second Conrad shows up, there’s some unfinished business between these two. I do love the contrast of playing “Daylight” for Jeremiah since the lyrics in that song say “I once believed love would be burning red, but it’s golden.” This song came out well after the release of “Red” so the line is clearly a reference to Swift’s past relationships being compared to a “Red” aura, but in “Daylight” she discovers the bright side of love that’s in her own words golden. I love the fact that they play that song but then go back to “Red”, because before Belly ever loved Jeremiah, she always loved Conrad.

The whole world is divided between Conrad and Jeremiah, and I can’t wait for the discourse to continue this summer. The final season of The Summer I Turned Pretty promises to be a fantastic watch, and I absolutely can’t wait for the watch parties, TikTok edits, and all the Taylor Swift songs to come!

The final season of The Summer I Turned Pretty hits Amazon Prime Video July 16.
