Reel Review: Ginny and Georgia’s Season 3 Return is Even More Shocking and Twisted
After what feels like a lifetime, the mother-daughter duo is finally back for another season of drama… and let’s just say Season 3 of Ginny & Georgia is nothing short of jaw dropping!
Picking up where we left off, Georgia lands herself in jail awaiting her court case regarding the three murders she had previously committed. Meanwhile, Ginny is struggling with her new-found popularity in high school being the daughter of the “murderess murderer.”
The new season takes place over the course of Georgia’s trial, and once the past is brought to light, her case becomes the talk of the town in Wellsbury. Brianne Howey perfectly depicts the struggle of motherhood and portrays her character in a whole new dynamic. Not only do we dive deeper into Georgia’s past this season, but we finally get to see that harsh exterior crack.
Georgia will truly go to the moon and back for her children, and this season showcases that. Ginny finally starts to realize the impact of her mother’s actions and discovers what it means for her future. Balancing school, friendships, and her unresolved feelings for Marcus (Felix Mallard), Ginny is stuck bottling her emotions which are bound to blow.
The insane chemistry between Antonia Gentry and Brianne Howey is what makes this mother-daughter duo feel real and authentic. The new season highlights their relationship and approaches it with even more emotional depth. Together their story continues to touch on extremely relevant and important topics such as self-harm, therapy, addiction.
The darker topics of this season are balanced out by light-hearted comedy, drama, and of course, romance. And it wouldn’t be Ginny & Georgia without highlighting some of our favorite ships! Georgia is officially married to Mayor Paul (Scott Porter), but that doesn’t stop her feelings for Ginny’s dad, Zion (Nathan Mitchell), and her oldest friend, Joe (Raymond Ablack).
Meanwhile, Ginny still has love for Marcus, though he has struggles of his own this season; dealing with his depression and an alcohol addiction. Ginny finds herself in the company of a new friend from poetry class, Wolfe (Ty Doran) but soon comes to find that she may be following in her mother’s footsteps as a result of one lousy night.
Neither Ginny nor Georgia had it easy this season. Overall, Season 3 of Ginny & Georgia will twist your mind on the story and characters you thought you knew. Leaving off on yet another cliffhanging finale, we can’t wait to see how the story picks up for both Ginny and Georgia in Season 4!
