Reel Review: Sofia Carson goes on a Beautiful Journey of Discovery in The Life List

The Life List is the perfect coming-of-age story that the world needs right now. Netflix’s newest film will have you holding your loved ones even closer, and Alex’s story of self discovery will take you on the journey of a lifetime.

Sophia Carson stars as Alex, a young woman struggling with the death of her mother. In a series of unfortunate events, Alex comes to find that her mother has delayed her inheritance until she can finish all the items on her teenage bucket list; and in the process, find herself.

After completing each task, Alex must report back to her mother’s swoon-worthy lawyer Brad (Kyle Allen) in order to receive a new video her mother had recorded for her before her passing. While the two don’t get along at first, their enemies-to-lovers relationship begins to blossom after their first encounter. Together, Carson and Allen’s characters build an incredibly deep relationship that unfolds in the most beautiful and natural way!

Alex truly grows into her own throughout the film as she starts a teaching position at a women’s shelter for troubled kids, uncovers secrets about her father, and begins a rocky relationship with her overbearing colleague Garret (Sebastian De Souza). At every step of the way, there is an inspiring video left from her mother to help guide her.

Connie Britton and Sofia Carson are the perfect mother and daughter duo to tell this story. There is nothing stronger than a bond between a mother and daughter and the audience can feel how truly special that is through the screen.

Finally, Alex learns something about herself from each struggle and loss she has to overcome. She finds her own strength and the family she’s longed for since the beginning. In gaining her inheritance, Alex gets the keys to her childhood home allowing her to create more memories with her siblings, in-laws, and ultimately with Brad.

The Life List beautifully combines raw emotions, comedic timing, and the perfect touch of romance. The story itself is truly inspiring and will keep audiences reflecting no matter what stage of life they are in. With authentic characters, a unique plot, and relatable raw emotions, we can’t wait to watch the success of The Life List unfold!

The Life List is now available to stream on Netflix.
