A Desperate Housewives Reboot is in the Works (Finally!)
Among this week’s best news: a Desperate Housewives spin-off, Wisteria Lane, is being developed by 20th Television.
While Marc Cherry, the original series creator was not included in the show's pitch, my hope is that they’ll include him in the development and production of the new series.
Kerry Washington’s production company, Simpson Street, is also helping with the development of the series.
A little while ago, Eva Longoria was asked in an interview if she would ever do a Desperate Housewives reboot and she said she was ready to sign on to come back. Hopes are high for this reboot because of how much love the original series got but with limited details on the show’s storyline, I wonder if it will be a series about the children that grew up on Wisteria Lane. There were enough of them to where they could have kids and return to the lane now (with other new characters too, hopefully).
Marc Cherry also noted in November 2024 that he has ideas for a spinoff, because he misses writing about Wisteria Lane. He mentioned that he thinks it would be cool to do a show about an earlier decade, which would be cool. Maybe some of the first people on the lane moving in and creating what it had become with all new characters. This would allow for more of a story and new characters as well, because who knows if the kids that have grown up would want to return for a spinoff.
On Wisteria Lane lived a group of friends, played by Teri Hatcher, Felicity Huffman, Marcia Cross and Eva Longoria, in the Emmy-nominated series Desperate Housewives.
Wisteria Lane does not have a release date yet but is set to premiere on Hulu.
